TOLEDO — The Toledo City Council went into a quick regular session on Friday, Aug. 1, passing a motion authorizing City Attorney Wes Chadwick to begin contract negotiations for a new city manager.

The top candidate in the running for the open city manager position remains unnamed, according to City Recorder Nancy Bryant. The top candidate must also successfully pass a background check.

Council members held an executive session earlier in the day on Friday, where they interviewed four candidates, including Jay Baughman, Robert Layman, William Kohbarger and Eric Chambers.

Members of the public had the opportunity to meet the candidates at a reception on Thursday, July 31.
