NEWPORT — Guests who chafe at the relaxing notion of a leisurely swim in the resort pool or a lazy afternoon of crabbing in a rented skiff can instead launch themselves skyward with jet-powered boots at the Embarcadero Resort & Marina.

The new idea took off Thursday under the watchful eyes of Jeff Venture, the resort’s new general manager.

“We want to offer flyboarding to our guests and corporate clients — I think it will be a great team-building idea for the companies that come over here,” said Venture, who is revitalizing the 45-year-old resort with renovations spanning the 10.5-acre, 254-room property. “It will give us something nobody else has.”
