Charles Shaffer of Lincoln Beach, Oregon passed away Friday, July 25th at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, Oregon. He was born March 7th 1932 to Chester and Nellie Shaffer in Roberts, Idaho then moved to Rhonan, Montana. He later attended Gresham grade school and Gresham high school. He spent 4 years in the Navy during the Korean Conflict after that he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad retiring in 1996 as a conductor. In 1955 he married Sherry Fuller.
Charles is survived by his wife Sherry of 59 years, his daughter Julie Munson, his son Rick Shaffer and 4 grandchildren, Tony Hendrick, Sherryl Drewery, Chris Shaffer, Joe Wellman, sister Marie Solum, brother Dave Shaffer. He is preceded in death by his parents and 6 siblings.
Until poor health took over he loved to hunt and fish, camp, garden and travel. He always loved spending time with his family and friends.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 1226 SW 13th Street, Lincoln City, Oregon.
Donations may be made in Charles’ honor to St. Peters Lutheran Church, Lincoln City, or to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.
