An 80-year-old Waldport man, who was reported missing and endangered, was found alive Thursday inside a wrecked vehicle northeast of Alsea, authorities said.

Jon Culton was on his way to Corvallis from Yachats for a doctor’s appointment Wednesday when he crashed his 1998 Toyota Camry on a stretch of Highway 34 near milepost 51.

The vehicle left the road, and ended up going down an embankment before coming to rest on its roof in a shallow creek, the Oregon State Police said in a report.
