George Steven Kittson, 76 of Junction City, Oregon died on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at Gateway Gardens Assisted Living Facility in Eugene, Oregon.
Mr. Kittson was born on February 22, 1938 in Salem, Oregon to Fred and Edna Louise (Lewis) Kittson. He grew up in both Sweet Home and Salem areas.
After a tour in the Navy, Mr. Kittson worked for Georgia-Pacific Corporation for over 35 years. He began as a forklift driver then studied to become a journeyman millwright and then an Electrician at the G.P. Plywood Mill in Toledo, Oregon. When the Toledo Sawmill closed in the 1980’s, he was transferred to the GP Mill in Eugene where he stayed until his retirement in 2000.
Known as George by many, as Steve by family and Granddad by his grandchildren, he enjoyed country music, dancing, playing his guitars and horses. He was a member of the Toledo Eagles Lodge, the Toledo Elks Lodge, and the Junction City Moose Lodge.
Mr. Kittson is survived by his son, Steven (Cami) of Springfield, and daughter Kathy “Kate” Owens (Larry) of Conroe, Texas; two brothers, Jerry and Tom, of Sweet Home; Sisters Julie Wardle (Lance) of Grants Pass, and Kimberly Kittson Morris (Steve) of Claremont, CA; Sister-in-law Avis Kittson of Sweet Home; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins, and several lifelong friends.
