NEWPORT — A 65-year-old Newport man walked away unharmed after crashing his car into JC Market Thriftway on Wednesday afternoon.

“It just sounds like an accident. The motorist hit the wrong pedals,” Newport Police Department Officer Lance Cummings said. “He was coming to the store, tried to park, jumped the curb and hit the wall (of the store).”

The motorist showed no signs of impairment, but he does have a medical condition, according to Cummings.
