Feds could turn up heat on heroin, meth case

NEWPORT Federal prosecutors are interested in a second suspect connected to an alleged heroin and methamphetamine operation broken up by local authorities earlier this year.

Brittney Marie Wood, 23, was one of two people arrested March 25 in connection with the drug operation in the 400 block of SW 7th Street in Newport.

She is charged with unlawful manufacture of heroin, unlawful delivery of heroin, and unlawful possession of heroin, according to an indictment filed in Lincoln County Circuit Court.

Wood is also charged with unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, and frequenting a place where controlled substances are used. She is being held on $1.25 million bail at Lincoln County Jail.
