DEPOE BAY — Mayor A.J. Mattila’s effort to carve out money from a disputed city budget for the Depoe Bay Kids Zone earned a four-figure grant last week.

“At this time it’s not needed,” argued Goddard, who claimed she had been approached by three members of the school’s board of directors, Neighbors for Kids. “They’re quite distraught this is happening and view it as a blow to their public relations.”
