NEWPORT — City Manager Spencer Nebel has been on the job for just six months, but he is pleased with progress being made in that short time and optimistic about the future of Newport.

On Friday, June 6, Nebel gave an update to members of the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce during their noon luncheon held at the Shilo Inn.

“I started my job in Newport on Dec. 16, and one of the first things that I did was spend a lot of time talking to a lot of people to try to really figure out what are the strengths, what are the weaknesses of the city organization and of the community,” said Nebel.

As a result of these conversations, he developed four specific goals that he wanted to accomplish during his first six months on the job.
