LINCOLN CITY — The city council on Monday passed a $39.5 million budget filled with major capital projects, more employees, money to buy an abandoned school and the fattening of funds that had been depleted last year on a big land deal.
But councilors confined their remarks to a tiny fraction of the 2014-15 municipal spending plan, a $17,000 fund dedicated to public arts.
“I’m delighted to see it,” commented Wes Ryan, among the seven councilors who gave unanimous approval to the latest project of the Public Arts Committee, a $917 glass mosaic for the city’s culinary center. “I can hardly wait to see it go up on a wall, and I’m looking forward to many more pieces.”
