Lincoln City mayoral bid boosted by broadcast

LINCOLN CITY — A businessman used a live broadcast by a popular conservative talk show host last week to bolster his bid to be the next Lincoln City mayor.

On Friday, Don Williams found a receptive crowd eager to sign his petition to run for the office being vacated by current Lincoln City mayor Dick Anderson, who is a candidate for county commissioner in the November election.

“Honestly, I didn’t want to run,” said Williams, owner of Nelscott Café in Lincoln City and a Subway sandwich franchise in Newport.
