Pair charged in alleged pot growing operation

NEWPORT A man and woman from Lincoln City were formally charged with allegedly running a marijuana growing operation that supplied pot to Portland area dispensaries.

Michelle Smith and Nathan Sholedice were arraigned Monday on five felony drug charges during separate hearings before Judge Sheryl Bachart at Lincoln County Circuit Court.

Smith, 27, and Sholedice, 24, each face one count of unlawful delivery of five grams or more of marijuana, unlawful delivery of marijuana more than one ounce, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Smith and Sholedice are also charged with two counts of unlawful manufacture of marijuana. The charges were spelled out in an indictment handed down June 5 by the Lincoln County Grand Jury.
