Alleged drunken stroll lands Waldport man in jail

Posted: Saturday, Jun 7th, 2014

A walk on the wild side landed a Waldport man in jail Friday evening after he was arrested for swinging a knife in the air while taking an alleged drunken stroll along Highway 34.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report about 7:43 p.m. of an intoxicated man on the highway near milepost 2.7. A witness said the man, identified as Brent Bilyeu, 57, was nearly hit by a car while walking on the highway.

When deputies arrived on scene they encountered Bilyeu, who was being detained by a U.S. Forest Service employee.

Bilyeu was medically cleared, and then taken to Lincoln County Jail where he was being held on $10,000 bail for disorderly conduct, the sheriff’s office said.
