DEPOE BAY — The newest member of the Depoe Bay Fire District will go from the frying pan into the fire next Tuesday.
Robert A. “Bob” Batty was appointed May 13 to fill a vacancy on the five-member board of directors. A longtime member of the DBFD Budget Committee, Batty will face a decision on the district’s $2 million spending plan for 2014-15 when the board convenes Tuesday, June 10, at 10 a.m.
Batty’s appointment filled the seat left by Gary Neese, a former Tualatin Valley firefighter who also served as interim chief of the DBFD about eight years ago. Nees and his family have moved to Salem.
