A two-vehicle crash Wednesday, May 28, on Highway 229 about four miles south of Siletz resulted in minor injuries to several people.
A report from the Oregon State Police said a Nissan Frontier pickup, driven by Cody M. Connor, 19, of Eddyville, was headed south at around 4:45 a.m. when it crossed into the opposite lane of travel near milepost 28.
A Ford F350 pickup, driven by Doug M. Ingram, 59, of Lincoln City, was traveling north, and the Ingram reportedly slowed and steered toward the shoulder in an attempt to avoid a collision. However, the front driver’s side of the Nissan struck the front driver’s side of the Ford, and the Nissan traveled off the highway and down an embankment, where it flipped onto its top. The Ford traveled across the southbound lane, went down an embankment, striking a large tree.
Four of the six occupants in the Ford pickup were treated for minor injuries, and Connor, the driver of the Nissan, was also treated for minor injuries.
“Speed, weather and sleepiness” may have contributed to the crash, according to the OSP report. Ingram was cited for careless driving and minor in possession of alcohol.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
