A Seattle woman was listed in fair condition Monday at a Portland area hospital two days after the airplane she was riding in crashed at the Georgia-Pacific paper mill property.
April Gleason, 34, was the lone survivor of the Saturday afternoon crash that killed her daughter Zoey Wahl, 4, and pilot Douglas Nebert, 51, of Newport, the Toledo Police Department said.
Nebert was a local business owner and member of the Newport Municipal Airport Advisory Committee.
According to witness reports, the small plane was flying low when it banked, and then nosedived straight down onto the Georgia-Pacific property.
Authorities believe the engine stopped working, as there was no sound when the plane dropped. The plane, which took off from Newport Municipal Airport, was headed for Seattle.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident.
