SISTERS — The Newport Cubs tried to rally after an hour-long thunderstorm delay in their playoff game against Sisters on Friday, but by the seventh inning, their season was setting along with the sun over the outfield fence.

The Cubs fell 8-3 to the No. 1 seeded Sisters Outlaws in their season-ending state tournament loss.

Newport struck first in the opening frame and added two more after the delay but couldn’t hold back the Outlaws' bats. For more information, check out Wednesday’s edition of the Newport News-Times.
