SOUTH BEACH – The Port of Newport was expected to award a bid today (Friday) to replace the South Beach Marina’s diesel fuel line, which recently failed its annual pressure test and has been shut down.
Port General Manager Kevin Greenwood said the port plans to remove both the diesel and gas fuel lines, each of which is connected to a 20,000-gallon tank located underground near the marina’s roundabout area. He said the problem is with the diesel line, not the fuel tank.
The port scheduled a 2 p.m. meeting today at its South Beach Marina Activities Room to address the issue and receive bids for the project. Greenwood said Thursday that the port has sought a request for a quote and had received one from 4C’s Environmental Inc. of Dallas, Ore.
