OTIS — A Memorial Day weekend at Salmon River turned tragic when a Portland boy died after being run over by a trailer.
The incident happened about 10:50 a.m. Monday when campers were moving gear with a two-axle trailer along the riverbank in preparation for portage across the river, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said.
At some point a 14-year-old boy tried to get on the trailer. The boy was later identified as Cruz Miller, an eighth-grade student at Mount Tabor Middle School in Portland.
