Spring lingcod

Pat Hurley of Boise, Idaho, hoists a hefty lingcod decked aboard the Cha Son of Dockside Charters just a mile from Depoe Bay harbor along the reefs of Government Point. Fishing for the toothy trophies heats up every spring when the fish move inshore to breed, giving anglers a fruitful opportunity to dance their multi-colored jigs along the rocky outcroppings. On Tuesday, May 27, Captain Booner Zimmerman, driving the Mariner out of Tradewinds Charters, reported a near-limit haul of rockfish that included 11 lings and 32 Dungeness crabs.
