DALLAS An 18-year-old Lincoln City resident was killed in a head-on collision Friday evening on a stretch of Highway 22 about three miles west of Dallas, the Oregon State Police said.

Cayden Thomas Fitch died after the 1995 Ford Ranger pickup truck he was driving collided head-on with a 2011 Toyota RAV4 driven by Michael Joseph Moylett, 69, of Gresham. Moylett was also killed in the incident that happened near milepost 10 west of Van Well Road.

Bryan Fitch, 43, of Lincoln City, was seriously injured in the crash. Fitch, an OSP trooper from the Newport Area Command Office, was a passenger in the pickup truck driven by his son.

Estella Moylett, 61, was also seriously injured in the crash. She was a passenger in the Toyota RAV4 driven by her husband. Bryan Fitch and Estella Moylett were both transported to a Salem hospital.

A preliminary investigation determined the Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling eastbound on the highway when it went into the westbound lane to pass a vehicle, and collided head-on with the Toyota RAV4. The Toyota RAV4 was headed westbound at the time of the crash.

The crash closed the highway for about six hours.
