County, city poised to delay pot shops

LINCOLN COUNTY — It appears that both Lincoln County and the city of Newport are leaning toward enacting a moratorium ordinance this month on the licensing of medical marijuana dispensaries locally in an effort to consider their regulatory options.

The county currently has a temporary moratorium (effective through 2014) delaying the opening of dispensaries, and the city will consider passing a similar ordinance at next Monday’s city council meeting.
