NEWPORT — After nearly 30 years of serving its community, the Newport Public Library has reached another crossroad.
That’s the conclusion presented Monday by members of a citizen-based strategic planning committee and one of four consultants involved for nearly a year in re-envisioning the regional library’s future.
During a city council town hall meeting at the library, the group, including members of the library’s board of trustees and its nonprofit foundation, unveiled a plan for the library’s future.
It includes service and interior makeovers during the next two fiscal years in order to lengthen the building’s longevity and ability to better serve the community.
