LINCOLN COUNTY — New federal legislation has been approved in an effort to limit flood insurance premiums from increasing dramatically in coastal areas, but implementing the new rules may take more than a year.
President Barack Obama recently signed into law the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act, which repeals a provision in the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 that had led to premium increases of tenfold in some instances, including in Lincoln County.
