Classification of Gender Creek in Yachats called into question

Water is shown flowing in Gender Creek in the fall. Nearby neighbors have taken photos of the creek flowing with water year-round, and they believe the waterway should be classified as “perennial.”

YACHATS — Gender Creek flows with water year-round, according to longtime residents living near the waterway. If that’s the case, Gender Creek should be classified as a perennial stream.

The classification of the creek was recently questioned by a Yachats resident as well as Yachats City Planner Larry Lewis, prompting city officials to give the issue a closer look.
