Modified: Sunday, Mar 23rd, 2014

There’s no doubt that the 75-year-old covered bridge spanning the North Fork of the Yachats River needs fixing since the last renovation occurred 25 years ago. Lincoln County is in line to receive a $700,000 federal grant since the rustic, 42-foot-long bridge is on the National Historical Register. First, however, the county may need to settle a tiff with a nearby landowner over whether a small portion of the adjacent road (below) on the north side of the structure is the terminus of a county road or simply private property.

YACHATS —Lincoln County faces opposition from a landowner in its attempt to “legalize” a small portion of North Yachats River Road for the purpose of receiving a federal grant to repair the Yachats Covered Bridge.

The 75-year-old bridge spanning the north fork of the river is recognized by the National Historic Register and is one of five covered bridges in Lincoln County.
