An Oregon senator is seeking an executive order that would ban contractors from receiving federal government deals unless they have a policy prohibiting workplace discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.
Sen. Jeff Merkley sent a letter Wednesday to President Barack Obama calling on him to issue the order. He said support for such an action has grown by leaps and bounds in Congress, as evidenced by 175 members who signed the letter. For the complete article see the 03-21-2014 issue.
