Mari Joan Dreher, 78, of Newport passed away February 24, 2014 from cancer. Mari was born July 27, 1935 in San Diego, CA to Eva and Charles Edward (Mike) Borum.
Mari was a coordinator of college programs. Secretary to three educational departments, she was author of two poetry books, and two mystery novels. Mari was a proud wife to Norman Dreher, marrying February 17, 1984 in Reno, NV.
Mari was member of wild life society and supporter of the police officer society. Mari loved art, music, quilting, gardening, writing, was a voracious reader. She loved shopping, and cooking, was a food connoisseur, and loved genealogy.
Mari was a world traveler, loving wife sister, and friend. Mari had the kindest, most open soul that would be open and accepting to anyone who needed cheer. She would light up any room. Extremely creative, and eclectic. No color of the rainbow was left untouched.
Mari is surviving by husband; Norman Dreher, Newport, OR, sister; Barbara Duke, of West Virgina, sons; David Paul, of Shasta, CA, Micheal Paul, Newport, OR, Daniel Paul, South Korea, daughters; Margaret Anne Smith, of San Diego, Sharon Dutt, San Diego, CA, Judith Melenson-Freeger, San Diego, grandchildren; Emily, Jeff, Audrey, Krista Beth, and 3 great grandchildren.
A Service will be held March 1, 2014 at 2pm for friends and family with a reception to follow at the Dreherís home.
In lieu of flowers, the Wildlife Society and the Police Officer Society will be
accepting donations in Mariís honor.
