Roby’s Furniture and Appliance closed all five of its stores on Wednesday, Feb. 12, for “Serve Day,” a day of giving something back to each of the communities they serve. Employees from the stores in Lincoln City and Newport, pictured here, joined forces to spend the day working on the youth community center project being constructed in Newport by the Church of the Nazarene. Employees from Roby’s stores in Florence, Tillamook and Astoria worked on projects in their communities. Andrea Langeliers, a co-owner of the business, said, “Wouldn’t it be awesome if every business in town took a day to help their community? I think we should encourage one another to take the focus off our own lives for just one day and see what sort of impact we can make to others.” Around 20 people showed up at the Newport job site on Feb. 12. This is Roby’s third year of organizing a Serve Day for its employees. For the complete article see the 02-19-2014 issue.
