True love in Lincoln County - Four local love stories to warm the heart on Valentine’s Day

Modified: Thursday, Feb 13th, 2014

John and Carol Baker of Newport have been married for 51 years – more than a half-century. John’s secret to a happy marriage? “Respect and regard for each other … giving the other person their space and not trying to live their life for them.” - Lisa Gray and Kelly Everfree are pictured at their third wedding in Vancouver, Wash. Although the couple was married twice before, their wedding in December finally afforded them all of the rights of a straight couple. - Patrick Alexander and Krista Eddy, are pictured shortly after meeting on a ferry in Chile in 2003. After traveling in South America and Asia, and living in Scotland together, the couple settled in Lincoln City. - Anjanette and Scott Baker met in graduate school at the University of Hawaii in 1979, studied whales together in Alaska, and moved across the country and the world together, eventually landing at the central Oregon coast and working at the Hatfield Marine Science Center.

Ah, love. It’s all around us in Lincoln County. You don’t have to be Kate Middleton and Prince William to have a compelling love story. Here is a quartet of Lincoln County “how we met” stories, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
