A volunteer from the Newport chapter of Surfrider Foundation carries a bag with her as she searches for garbage along the beach. The local chapter held a beach cleanup at South Beach State Park last Saturday. Beach cleanup coordinator Peter Snell said chapter members and volunteers cleaned up Styrofoam and other debris that washed ashore following the storms that swept through the area in recent weeks. “We are seeing more stuff on the beach (that has washed up) from our coastal communities,” Snell said.For the complete article see the 01-22-2014 issue.
