Wild about mushrooms Fungi fanatics take a walk in search of mushrooms

Local naturalist and longtime mushroom enthusiast Don Burnett holds up a king bolete mushroom for a group during a guided mushroom walk along Cape Perpetua last Saturday morning. The king bolete is an edible wild mushroom that can be found locally. A trio of local wild mushrooms, including a lobster, a prince and a chanterelle, were found along Cape Perpetua during a guided mushroom walk with local naturalist Don Burnett last Saturday morning. A total of 27 guided mushroom walks were offered at this year’s Yachats Mushroom Festival.

YACHATS – The list was full for a total of 27 guided mushroom walks for people of all experience levels at the 14th annual Yachats Mushroom Festival last weekend.
