At about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Deputy Gary Davey with the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash involving a semi-truck in the area of milepost 10.5 on North Beaver Creek Road. The deputy arrived to find a Swift Trucking tractor/trailer on its side and having lost its 42,000-pound load of large rolls of paper. The driver, Daniel Castro, 67, of Hayward, Calif., left Georgia-Pacific at around 5:30 a.m., following directions from an onboard GPS, which led him up the gravel 1000 Line Road. Once realizing the GPS directions were wrong, Castro thought he could travel down North Beaver Creek Road to Highway 101. However, his trailer slid off the road and onto its side while rounding a curve. Castro was not injured, and no fuel leaked from the vehicle.
