A 79-year-old Siletz woman, Mary P. Fischer, whose car plunged off a steep cliff Monday near this precipice one-half mile south of Beverly Beach State Park, remained in critical condition at press time. State police who were at the scene remarked at the scale of erosion taking place along Highway 101 at the site, but highway officials say they have been monitoring the cliff’s attrition for decades and have no easy solution in sight. “We budget $1.5 million for Lincoln County each year, and much of that goes to Highway 101,” said Rick Little, a spokesman for the Oregon Department of Transportation.
