Lincoln City wages based on town twice its size

LINCOLN CITY City officials acknowledged during a budget hearing last week that municipal workers in Lincoln City are paid salaries based on a city twice the size of this town of 7,900 people.

The disclosure came during the final meeting of a budget committee that endorsed with few comments or changes a proposed $29.5-million spending plan that neither improves nor reduces services but will charge more for them, including a 2.5-percent increase in property taxes and a 4-percent increase in water and sewer rates.
