Doris May McCauley Pickens
Doris May McCauley Pickens passed away passed away peacefully at her home on May 16, 2013 from a long battle and succumbed to the illness of congestive heart failure. She was 77 years old.

Doris was born on January 26, 1936 in Winterset, Iowa to Theodore R McCauley and Dorothy P (Green) McCauley. She attended Winterset High School and St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Marshalltown, Iowa. Doris was married to E. Wayne Pickens.

Doris worked at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa; Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Ore. and was also a Hospice Nurse and Home Health Nurse. She was recently Parrish Nurse at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport, Ore. Doris was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary; served on LARC Board, Special Olympics volunteer, elder and Deacon of her church.

Doris is survived by her children, Wayne and Sherri Pickens; granddaughter, Kierstan Pickens, David Pickens and his family; sisters, Bertha Kirkwood of Ankeny, IA and Kay McCauley of Des Moines, IA; brothers, Bud (Jeanne) McCauley of Adel, IA and Dick (Susie) McCauley of Des Moines, IA as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was preceded in death by her son, Brendt Pickens, her parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.

A celebration of Doris’ life will be held on May 24th (Friday), 2013 at 1:00 pm at the First Presbyterian Church on NE 12th St in Newport, Ore. Memorial contributions can be made to her church or a charity of your choice.
