This Saturday, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, at 2 p.m., Sian Zander will celebrate 40 years of Newport School of Dance and 25 years of Oregon Coast Ballet Company with free recital performances by her students at the Newport Performing Arts Center.

"Every year the school and company has embraced the leadership style of the graduating dancers," says Zander. "This year, Mica and Tyler have given the company its personality and work ethic. Both are honor students with a passion for their chosen art forms."

Domenica Gavin and Tyler Teich are both members of National Honor Society and will graduate from Newport High School this year. Gavin has been a senior editor on the staff of Harbor Light and has served as editor of the NHS Literary Review for "Bringing the Apocalypse" in 2012 and "Red Bike" in 2013. Teich has been a member of the Robotics and Leadership teams at NHS while pursuing his IB diploma. Teich has performed with Porthole Players LTD and Gavin has performed with the Summer Shakespeare Camp hosted by Oregon Coast Council for the Arts in addition to performing lead roles in "A Little Nutcracker" each year. This year, Zander created "MouseKing Re-Mix In 3D" specifically to showcase the talents of Teich, who held the stage for the entire show. At the recital, Gavin will perform a dance made especially for her graduation as ballerina of the company to the same music performed by Melinda McAdams, at her graduation in 1974.
