A double-blind clinical trial using cranial electrotherapy stimulation to treat depression is being conducted in Newport for dissertation research by Marie D. Turner.
This three-week study is slated to run continuously through July. People may start any day but must complete three weeks in a row. The research center will open at 5:30 p.m., allowing participants who work during the day to join in the trials.
Participants in the study will be administered a depression inventory on the first day of their trial to measure their level of depression, which will take about 10 minutes. Then, they will use the CES device for one hour for the course of their study. The depression inventory will again be administered on the final day of the trial to measure results. For the complete article see the 05-15-2013 issue.
