Oregon Coast Aquarium staff and volunteers will take aspiring birders under their wing on Saturday for International Migratory Bird Day.
The annual event, held to educate the participants about migratory birds, is celebrated throughout North and South America on the second Saturday of May.
This yearís event centers on the life cycles of migratory birds and the importance of conservation for all stages of migratory birdsí lives.
Visitors can take advantage of an rare opportunity to get a unique, up-close look at raptors they usually only see soaring in the skies or resting on high perches. These birds of prey, from the Cascade Raptor Center in Eugene, will be presented on handlersí gloves during educational presentations and for special encounters from noon to 2 p.m.For the complete article see the 05-08-2013 issue.
