Remembering Dan on a ‘Heart Walk’

“Perhaps they are not the stars, but openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.”  – author unknown

This is about my older brother, Dan, who went home to heaven recently, and how two friends stepped up to help me deal with lingering sorrow and feelings of loss.  Realistically, I knew it was time for Dan to leave his tired body, just as a butterfly does from its no-longer-useful cocoon.

After reading the article and seeing more pictures on the website, I started thinking of this as a therapeutic “Heart Walk” but did not want to do it alone. Women seem to understand grief a bit better than men, and when a couple of friends asked how I was doing, I recruited them to do this walk with me.
