Porthole Players will hold auditions for their summer play at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 and Tuesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. at the Newport Performing Arts Center, 777 W. Olive St.
The play will be Steve Martin's wild and crazy comedy, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" and it has parts for both men and women from ages 18 to 80. This hilarious comedy takes place in 1904 at Le Lapin Agile (The Nimble Rabbit), a bar on the top of Montmartre that was a popular hangout for the Parisian artists of the day. The story concerns a fictional meeting between a young Pablo Picasso who is on the verge of creating Cubism and a young Albert Einstein who is about to publish his Theory of Relativity. The two of them and the other patrons of the bar go back and forth in their discussions on science versus art.For the complete article see the 04-12-2013 issue.
