The Central Coast Chorale, under the direction of Mary Lee Scoville, is in final rehearsal for the first of its spring concerts, set for 3 p.m. this Sunday in the sanctuary of the Newport First Presbyterian Church, 227 NE 12th St.

This chorus has rehearsed since early January on a challenging collection of arrangements by some of the world’s most recognized composers.

“This chorus, having performed with the Newport Symphony for the second time last October, built on the skills developed for that experience and is now demonstrating an extraordinary proficiency in vocal musicianship,” Scoville said.

This concert marks the 15th year the Central Coast Chorale has performed for Lincoln County audiences.

This mixed voice chorale will perform music from some of the world’s most recognized composers in this “Anything Goes – Classical” concert. The concert will open with the a cappella arrangement of “Alleluia,” by Randall Thompson. This all classical concert features music from requiems by Durufle, Barber, Mozart, Brahms, and Faure, with an additional “Alleluia” setting by Eric Whitacre, with Jim Kuoni, as bass soloist.

Stephanie Lilley, principal soprano soloist, and 10-year-old Cole Theodore, boy soprano, will sing the duet “Pie Jesu,” from the Requiem by Andrew Lloyd Webber. This is Theodore’s vocal debut. He currently studies both violin and piano. Both of his parents sing with the Central Coast Chorale.
