Rain, wind can't decelerate Irish track

The sideward cloudbursts and bone-chilling temperatures turned the Waldport track team's opening home meet into a relatively inaccurate barometer for Irish prosperity this season.

Saturday's conditions were bleak and drab, to put it mildly. Personal records weren't in jeopardy, though hamstrings and thigh muscles might have been. It was one of those gritty, resolute days that teams look back and chuckle at when they're running in the warmth of May under clear blue skies and peeling off PRs.
