Marilyn "Toots" Waterman

September 12, 1924 - March 3, 2013

Cremation rites have been held for Marilyn "Toots" Waterman, 88, of Lakeside, under the direction of Nelson's Bay Area Mortuary.

Marilyn Waterman, better known as "Toots", to all who knew her, was born in the Black Hills of South Dakota on September 12, 1924 to Lawrence and Alta (Miller) Woodraska. She passed away March 3, 2013 at Coos Bay. She married Jack Waterman on April 22, 1944 who preceded her in death on June 6, 1996.

Jack was the sheriff of Lincoln County and Toots worked as a deputy sheriff for many years, she then worked for the P.U.D. until retiring, and then worked for Georgia Pacific until retiring again and moving to Lakeside, Oregon where she has since resided.

Toots was a unique personality who could light up the world with her beautiful smile. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This was a favorite part of her life. She loved bowling, playing cards with her friends in the singles club, eating hot dogs and Twinkies while watching her favorite football team, the Beavers. Toots could complete a crossword puzzle in a matter of minutes and knit a hat for a cancer ridden baby while watching her favorite NFL teams compete on Sunday afternoon. When her son Bill would call with the weekly football pool picks, Toots could name the quarterbacks along with her favorite linebackers.

Some of the families best memories will be of their Mom with her darling dog Sassy sitting on her lap. In the morning they would hear her call "Sassy, come get your nummers"! Her family says, "we will all be better for having the privilege of knowing our beautiful Mother, Marilyn Waterman.

She is survived by: Daughter Jackie Shaw, Son, Bill & Chris Waterman, Grandsons, Jeff Safley, Robert Safley, Casey & Trinity Waterman, Richard Waterman, Granddaughter, Cortney Waterman, Great Grandsons, Hunter, Ezra, & Jayce Waterman, Sister, Shirley Slover.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Waterman, a sister, Virginia, and a brother, "Bub"; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of Nelsonís Bay Area Mortuary, 405 Elrod Ave, Coos Bay 541-267-4216
