A Depoe Bay angler used last week’s calm seas and spring-like weather to cozy-up to a nice fishing hole a hundred feet south of the cement jetty. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, rockfishing is excellent at the coast this time of year as lingcod move to shallower waters to mate and lay eggs. The daily bag limit is seven rockfish. Additionally, up to two ling cod measuring 22 inches or greater may be taken. Consult the ODFW sport fishing regulations for more details and exercise caution while fishing from rocky headlands that can be swept by sneaker waves.
