Talented artist Sarah Scanlan admitted she spends more time skateboarding than painting as she greeted guests at the Friday premier of “Sk8board,” a showing of her art and an array of provocative and eye-popping pieces by other skateboarders at the Lincoln City Cultural Center, on display through April 8. Scanlan’s talent dominated one wall of the show with her take on guitarist Keith Richards. A fine arts graduate of Southern Oregon University who works as a massage therapist at Salishan Resort & Spa, she finished the piece 10 years ago. but said she is finding new inspiration in “the weird faces” of fellow skaters and intends to renew her painting with a portrait of bewhiskered local boarder, Aaron Nash.
