Artist Linda Gettmann, of Bend, will teach two classes this weekend at Nye Cottage Beads.
On Saturday, she will teach Kumihimo, the ancient art of braiding ropes, belts, ribbons, and decorative sashes. Practiced in Japan and other countries for centuries, and popular worldwide, Kumihimo designs, shapes, and beautiful patterns are used today to create clothing, jewelry, and other works of art. Participants will learn how to make round and flat braids, completing a beaded necklace after making an eight-strand braid on the kumihimo disk. For the complete article see the 03-13-2013 issue.
