It's tough to vocalize precisely what Newport boys' basketball coach Scott Doll said to his team during halftime of the Cubs' 4A Play-In playoff game at Yamhill-Carlton, trailing a less-talented squad 21-16, but here's a possible G-rated synopsis.
Quit shooting threes. Get the ball inside. Take the ball to the basket until they stop you. Then keep going.
