Breaking all the rules: educators see change at Taft High

LINCOLN CITY — Educators who threw out the rulebook in an effort to save a school once derided as a “dropout factory” are seeing results with their unorthodox methods, including performance incentives such as three-day weekends, fully paid college classes and opportunities for students to serve the community.
