A sprained ankle, bloody lip and a couple condemned passes that she wished back weren't going to rain on Camilla Alvarado's senior night on Tuesday.
The sole senior on the Waldport girls' basketball team – who was so significant in helping the Irish end a woebegone two-year winless drought by winning a pair of preseason games, so valuable to an unseasoned squad that looked to her for everything from pre-game speeches to bearing the brunt of the scoring to organizing team meetings – wasn't ending her career on the bench. She couldn't go out like that.
